Artist Biography

For over 25 years I have sustained a deep passion for painting works that are surreal, expressive, magically humanist, figurative and organically abstract.

artist with cigarI feel  inspired to paint  because it provides me with access to a portal  that reveals truths beyond reason.    I am intrigued by the temporary taming of the inexplicable,  and by courting poetic mystery.

Through my painting process evolves a magical humanist stage where a narrative paradox emerges.  I  direct  figures, portraits,  plant life, landscapes  interiors and organic abstractions to dance within the tension.

I seek to express  mortality, humor contradiction, struggle, spirituality, connectedness, isolation, yearning, mirth and magic, while occasionally inviting the realm of the absurd.

As a colorist, my work pushes the envelope: I explore a heightened palette to suggest the metaphysical - a realm bathed in light with delicious  hues draping a strong graphic and compositional foundation.

I hold the collective pantheon of artistic trailblazers in honor and the highest regard. It is my humble intent that my work contribute to and expand the dialogue.
